FACT: Hybrid Cars not so Eco Friendly

fiat-panda-hydrogen Hybrid cars are dominating the headlines in the car industry today, but is it all just talk?  We hear about the 100+ MPG from these new hybrid electric models but at what cost?

New research from the offices of the EPA are showing that the automotive industry might be taking us all for a ride. “The amount of time and resources put into these new hybrid models does not cover the amount of crude oil you will save over the life of the vehicle.”  In addition the cost to purchase these vehicles does not cover the cost of the fuel saved over the life of the vehicle.

State EPA representative Arnold Harvner. “cheap labor does make it profitable for a company to produce these model cars.  The consumption of natural resources including the crude oil it takes to produce the elements that make them so fuel efficient is astounding.   Through out the life of the vehicle you should save somewhere around 5,312 gallons of pure crude oil, while it takes nearly 9,000 gallons to be refined and processed to create all of the high tech fuel cells and other elements which make up the car.”

So you my save a few bucks at the pump, but you are costing mother nature much more than we can afford to pay.
